- Command:
NEW· Global name:_NEW· Shortcut: Ctrl+N - Menu: LinceCAD
- Menu: File
Starts a new drawing from a template (.dwt, or a .dwg used as a template), in a new tab. The drawings already open stay in their tabs.
Usage
- Enter NEW, press Ctrl+N or click the + button to the right of the file tabs.
- The Select template dialog box opens in the LinceCAD templates folder. Choose one and click Open.
- A tab opens with an unnamed drawing (Drawing1, Drawing2…) that has the layers, styles, units and layouts of the template. Save it with QSAVE; the first time it asks for a name and a folder.
On the command line (scripts) the prompt is:
Enter template file name or [. (for none)] <…>:
Enter the name of a template in the folder (with or without .dwt) or a full path; Enter takes the one shown between < > and . starts an empty metric drawing without a template.
Standard templates
| Template | Contents |
|---|---|
lince_iso.dwt | LinceCAD metric template: millimetres, ISO-25 dimension style and a landscape A3 layout. |
lince_imperial.dwt | LinceCAD inch template: the acad.dwt dimension style and an ANSI B (17 × 11 in) layout. |
They are installed with the program in the plantillas folder, next to the executable. Any drawing can be saved as a template with SAVEAS › DWT.
Notes
- If the current drawing is untouched (no name and nothing drawn), the new one takes its tab.
- To always start with the same template without being asked, choose it in OPTIONS › Open and Save and use QNEW (the Quick Access toolbar button).
- To switch drawings, click their tab or use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab.
