INSERT — Insert
Inserts a block or a drawing.
- Command:
INSERT· Global name:_INSERT· Alias:I,INSERTURL - Ribbon: Home › Block
- Ribbon: Insert › Block
- Ribbon: View › Palettes
- Menu: Insert
Inserts a block or a whole drawing. It opens the Blocks palette, with thumbnails of the blocks in the drawing, the most recently inserted ones and those in the library folders. Click a thumbnail (or drag it onto the drawing) and the block hangs from the cursor so you can place it.
Usage
- Enter INSERT (or I) or click the button: the palette opens (or closes).
- Choose the tab and, if needed, type part of the name in Search.
- Click a block. If it comes from another file, its definition is copied into the drawing first.
- Specify on screen whatever is missing, according to the palette's insertion options.
Specify insertion point or [Scale/Rotate]:
- If the block has attributes, enter their values (Enter keeps the default value).
Tabs
- Current Drawing: the blocks defined in the drawing. Browse… inserts another DWG or DXF as a block.
- Recent: the last 24 inserted blocks, with their source file.
- Libraries: the drawings in the library folders, each one whole and with its blocks. The folder installed with the program has architectural and electrical symbols. Add Folder… adds another one; right-click its title to remove it.
Insertion options
- Insertion Point, Scale and Rotation: with Specify On-screen they are specified with the mouse; otherwise the typed values are used. Clear Uniform Scale to use different X, Y and Z scales.
- Repeat Placement: after placing the block it asks for the point again, until Enter or Esc.
- Explode: inserts the pieces of the block instead of a reference to it.
Notes
- The palette can be docked to the left or right of the drawing and set to auto-hide with the buttons in its header (◂ ▸ ◻ 📌); see The user interface.
- If the drawing already has a block with the same name, the drawing's block is used and the other file's is not copied.
- Recent blocks, folders and tool palettes are saved in
bloques.toml, in the program's settings folder. - In scripts, INSERT asks on the command line like -INSERT.
