MOVE — Move
Moves objects from a base point to another point.
- Command:
MOVE· Global name:_MOVE· Alias:M - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Moves the selected objects a distance and direction given by two points: the base point and the destination point. The objects keep their shape, size and orientation.
Usage
- Enter MOVE (or M) or click Move on the ribbon.
- Select the objects and press Enter. If they were already selected before starting the command, they are used without asking.
Select objects:
- Specify the base point: the point of the objects you want to take somewhere else.
Specify base point or [Displacement] <Displacement>:
- Specify the destination point. While you move the cursor you see where the objects will go.
Specify second point or <use first point as displacement>:
Notes
- The second point can be typed as relative (
@100,0) or polar (@50<45) coordinates from the base point, or as a single distance, applied in the direction of the cursor (handy with Ortho, F8). - With no command running you can also move with grips: select the objects, click a grip and press Space until the move mode.
Specify move point or [Base point/Copy/eXit]:
- In 3D points can be typed with Z:
x,y,zor@dx,dy,dz(e.g. base0,0,0and destination@0,0,3lifts the objects 3 units). A point without Z lies at the current elevation (ELEV), and a relative@dx,dyafter a 3D point keeps its Z, as in AutoCAD. - Moving a dimension also moves its block; texts and blocks keep their rotation.
- There is no Displacement option as in AutoCAD: use a base point at
0,0and type the displacement as destination.
- Displacement option: type the vector (
3,4) instead of two points. Enter at the second point uses the base point as displacement.
