COPY — Copy
Copies objects from a base point to another point.
- Command:
COPY· Global name:_COPY· Alias:CO,CP - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Copies the selected objects from a base point to one or more destination points. Each point you specify creates a new copy; the originals do not change.
Usage
- Enter COPY (or CO, CP) or click Copy on the ribbon.
- Select the objects and press Enter. If they were already selected before starting the command, they are used without asking.
Select objects:
- Specify the base point.
Specify base point or [Displacement/mOde] <Displacement>:
- Specify the destination point. A copy is created and the prompt repeats to make another one from the same base point.
Specify second point or [Array] <use first point as displacement>:
- Press Enter, Space or Esc to finish.
Notes
- As in AutoCAD, copying is multiple: the command keeps asking for destinations until you finish it.
- Destinations can be typed as relative or polar coordinates from the base point, or as a distance in the direction of the cursor.
- In 3D points accept Z (
x,y,z,@dx,dy,dz), as in MOVE: the copy is raised or lowered. - Grips copy too: in any mode (stretch, move, rotate, scale, mirror) choose Copy (C) and each point leaves a copy.
- There is no Array option as in AutoCAD; for copies in rows, columns or around a circle use ARRAY.
- To copy between drawings use COPYCLIP and PASTECLIP.
- AutoCAD's Displacement, mOde and Undo options are not available.
- Options: Displacement (a vector, a single copy), mOde (Single or Multiple, variable COPYMODE), Array (number of items and second point; with Fit the point is the last item), Exit and Undo (removes the last copy or array). Enter at the first second point uses the base point as displacement.
