ROTATE — Rotate
Rotates objects around a base point.
- Command:
ROTATE· Global name:_ROTATE· Alias:RO - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Rotates the selected objects around a base point. The angle is given with a point or typed in degrees.
Usage
- Enter ROTATE (or RO) or click Rotate on the ribbon.
- Select the objects and press Enter. If they were already selected before starting the command, they are used without asking.
Select objects:
- Specify the base point: the center of rotation.
Specify base point:
- Specify the angle. Typed, in degrees (positive is counterclockwise); with a click, the angle is that of the direction from the base point to the point. The preview follows the cursor.
Specify rotation angle or [Copy/Reference] <…>:
With Copy a copy is rotated and the original stays; with Reference you give the reference angle (a number or two points) and the new angle (Specify the reference angle <0>:), and the difference is applied.
Notes
- With Ortho (F8) or polar tracking (F10) the rotation with the cursor snaps to 90° or to the polar angles.
- With no command running you can rotate with grips: select the objects, click a grip (it becomes the base point) and press Space until the rotate mode.
Specify rotation angle or [Base point/Copy/eXit]:
- Texts, blocks and arcs update their angle; dimensions are regenerated and their text stays readable.
- The Copy and Reference options are the AutoCAD ones; in Reference, Points gives the angle with two points. Enter uses the last rotated angle (the value between
< >).
