ALIGN — Align
Moves, rotates and scales objects to align them with others.
- Command:
ALIGN· Global name:_ALIGN· Alias:AL - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
Moves, rotates and, if you ask for it, scales the selected objects so that some source points match some destination points. Use it to fit a part or a block against another object without working out angles.
Usage
- Enter ALIGN (or AL).
- Select the objects and press Enter. If they were already selected before starting the command, they are used without asking.
Select objects:
- Specify the first pair of points: one on the objects (source) and the place where it must go (destination).
Specify first source point: Specify first destination point:
- Specify the second pair, or press Enter to just move.
Specify second source point or <continue>: Specify second destination point:
- Specify the third pair, or press Enter and choose whether the objects are scaled so that the second source lands on the second destination (Enter: no).
Specify third source point or <continue>: Scale objects based on alignment points? [Yes/No] <N>:
Notes
- With one pair of points, the objects are moved; with two, they are also rotated around the first destination so that the direction from the first source to the second matches that of the destinations.
- With three pairs, the third one also decides whether the objects must be flipped (mirrored about the line of the first pair) so that they end up on the same side as the third destination.
- Use object snaps (F3) so that the points land exactly on the vertices.
