IMPORTPOINTS — Import points
Imports a survey (CSV/ASCII, Leica GSI, Sokkia SDR, Topcon, Trimble JobXML or RW5) as labelled points or point objects.
- Command:
IMPORTPOINTS· Global name:_IMPORTPOINTS - Ribbon: Topography › Points
- Menu: Survey
Imports a total station or GNSS survey and creates survey points in the drawing with their number, elevation and code labelled, or point objects with their elevation. If asked, it also draws the lines and symbols from the field codes (PROCESSLINEWORK).
Usage
- Enter IMPORTPOINTS or click Import points on the Survey tab.
Points file (CSV, TXT, GSI, SDR, JobXML, RW5):
- Choose the file with Browse or enter its path. The format is recognised from the extension and the content.
Source EPSG or [Format/Order/Type/Codes] <none>:
- In the dialog, check the format and, for ASCII, the column order and the separator. Choose Create as (survey points or point objects), the label style, the layer by code and whether to draw by codes. Enter the source EPSG if needed and click OK.
On the command line (scripts), the Format, Order, Type and Codes options change the same as the dialog, and Enter imports.
Supported formats
The point coordinates are read (name, X or easting, Y or northing, Z and code or description):
| Format | What is read |
|---|---|
| ASCII (CSV, TXT…) | Columns by letters: P number, N northing (Y), E easting (X), Z elevation, D code and - to skip one (PNEZD, PENZD, NEZ, PXYZD…), or by header. Comma, semicolon, tab or space separator, and dot or comma decimal. With spaces, the last D column takes the rest of the line. With no header or order: number, X, Y, Z, code. |
| Leica GSI-8 and GSI-16 | Words 11 (number), 81, 82 and 83 (E, N, Z, in mm, 1/10 mm, 1/100 mm or feet) and 71 (code). A code block 41 gives the code of the following points. |
| Sokkia SDR33 / SDR2x | Coordinate records 08, with 4 or 16-character names and 10 or 16-character numbers. The N-E or E-N order is taken from record 00. |
| Topcon GTS | ASCII coordinate dump: number, N, E, Z and code separated by commas. |
| Trimble JobXML (.jxl) | The reduced coordinates in Reductions; if there are none, the non-deleted PointRecord entries with grid coordinates. |
| Carlson/TDS RW5 | Stored points (SP) and side shots (SS, TR, BD, FD) reduced from the station (OC), the backsight (BK) and the instrument and rod heights (LS). Angles in DDD.MMSS or gons. |
Not read: raw observations in GSI, SDR and JobXML (only their coordinates), RW5 GPS records (latitude and longitude) and code attributes.
Notes
- A survey point is a
PUNTO_TOPOblock with the NUMERO, COTA and CODIGO attributes: it looks the same in AutoCAD and in any program that reads DWG. The elevation is the Z of the insertion point, so SURFACE and CONTOUR use it as data. - With layer by code, each point goes to layer
TOPO_PUNTOS_<code>(without trailing digits: BOR1 and BOR2 go toTOPO_PUNTOS_BOR), with the code's colour in the table (SURVEYCODES). - Point objects take the current layer and colour or, if the CSV carries RGB, each point's colour.
- If the source EPSG is given, points are reprojected to the drawing's system (GEOGRAPHICLOCATION); if the drawing has no system, it adopts that one.
