EXPLODE — Explode
Breaks a compound object into its parts.
- Command:
EXPLODE· Global name:_EXPLODE· Alias:X - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Breaks each selected compound object into the pieces it is made of: a polyline into lines and arcs, a block into its objects, a multiline into its lines, a dimension into its lines, arrowheads and text, a hatch into its lines and a table into its lines and texts.
Usage
- Enter EXPLODE (or X) or click Explode on the ribbon.
- Select the objects and press Enter. If they were already selected before starting the command, they are exploded without asking.

Notes
- Each use explodes a single level: a block that contains other blocks leaves those blocks as references, which can be exploded again.
- Pieces of a dimension that were on layer 0 go to the layer of the dimension.
- Simple objects (lines, arcs, circles, texts) do not change; if nothing selected can be exploded, a message says so.
- Exploding loses what the compound object provides: a dimension stops measuring, a block no longer updates when it is redefined and a polyline loses its width.
