Opens a block definition in the Block Editor.
- Command:
BEDIT· Global name:_BEDIT· Alias:BE - Ribbon: Home › Block
- Ribbon: Insert › Block
- Menu: Insert
Opens a block definition in the Block Editor. Its contents are edited as if they were a drawing, with every command, object snap and grip; when it is saved, every insert of the block is updated.
Usage
- Enter BEDIT (or BE) or click the button. Double-clicking a block without attributes also opens it.
- In the Edit Block Definition dialog box, choose the block in the list (its preview and description are shown) and click OK. If a block was selected, it is already chosen.
- Edit the block. The background changes color, the bottom bar shows "Block Editor: …" and the ribbon switches to the Block Editor tab.
- Save with BSAVE or BSAVEAS and leave with BCLOSE.
Notes
- Point 0,0 in the editor is the block's base point.
- External references, layouts and anonymous blocks cannot be edited. For a dynamic block its definition is edited; its parameters and actions are kept, but new ones cannot be added.
- Inside the editor you cannot use BEDIT or PURGE, or switch between model and paper space.
- After closing, the whole editor session is undone with a single UNDO.
- Saving the file while the editor is open saves the drawing without the block's pending changes.
- In scripts, BEDIT asks for the name like -BEDIT.
