QDIM — Quick Dimension
Quickly creates a series of dimensions from the selected geometry.
- Command:
QDIM· Global name:_QDIM· Alias:QD - Ribbon: Annotate › Dimensions
Creates a series of dimensions of the selected geometry in one go: chained dimensions, baseline dimensions, staggered dimensions, ordinate dimensions, or radius or diameter dimensions of all arcs and circles. It is the quick way to dimension a part or a façade.
Usage
- Enter QDIM (or QD).
- Select the geometry you want to dimension and press Enter.
Select geometry to dimension:
- Move the cursor to preview the dimensions and specify where the dimension line goes, or choose another type of dimension first. Enter finishes without dimensioning.
Specify dimension line position, or [Continuous/Staggered/Baseline/Ordinate/Radius/Diameter/datumPoint/Edit/seTtings] <…>:
Options
- Continuous (C): chained dimensions between consecutive points. This is the initial option.
- Staggered (S): nested symmetric dimensions, from the outer pair of points to the inner one.
- Baseline (B): all from the first point, each one offset from the previous one by the baseline spacing of the style (DIMDLI).
- Ordinate (O): one ordinate dimension per point.
- Radius (R) and Diameter (D): one dimension per arc and circle, in the direction of the cursor.
Which points are dimensioned
- Lines: their two endpoints. Polylines: their vertices. Points: their location.
- Arcs: their endpoints and, with Radius or Diameter, the arc itself. Circles: only with Radius or Diameter.
- Points that coincide in the measured direction are dimensioned only once.
Notes
- As in DIMLINEAR, the orientation comes from the position: above or below the geometry the dimensions are horizontal; to one side, vertical.
- The dimensions use the current dimension style (DIMSTYLE) and are associated with the geometry.
- datumPoint (P): a new datum point: the baseline starts at the dimension point nearest to it and ordinate dimensions measure from it.
- Edit (E): remove dimension points (the nearest to each click) or, with Add, add others.
- seTtings (T): the association priority, Endpoint or Intersection (remembered, but dimensions are always associated by their endpoints).
