DIMCONTINUE — Continue
Creates a chain of linear dimensions from the previous one.
- Command:
DIMCONTINUE· Global name:_DIMCONTINUE· Alias:DCO,DIMCONT - Ribbon: Annotate › Dimensions
Chains linear dimensions: each new dimension starts where the previous one ends, on the same dimension line. It is used for consecutive spans (openings in a façade, spacing of columns…).
Usage
- Enter DIMCONTINUE (or DCO).
- The command starts from the last linear or aligned dimension in the drawing. If there is none, select the dimension to continue.
Select continued dimension:
- Specify the second extension line origin. A dimension is created from the previous one to that point and the prompt repeats from the new dimension.
Specify a second extension line origin or [Undo/Select] <Select>:
- Press Enter to finish. If no dimension has been created yet, Enter asks you to select another starting dimension.
Options
- Undo (U): removes the last dimension created and goes back to the previous one.
- Select (S): selects another starting dimension. It continues from the extension line closest to the point you click.
Notes
- Linear, aligned, angular (from the second side of the previous one, with its vertex and radius) and ordinate dimensions (with the leader end aligned with the previous one) can be continued.
- New dimensions use the current dimension style (DIMSTYLE).
- The continuation of an aligned dimension is created as a rotated linear dimension, with the same geometry.
- If its points lie on the geometry (endpoint, midpoint, center...), the dimension is associated with it and follows it when it is moved, stretched or scaled (DIMASSOC). With an annotative dimension style, the dimension is annotative.
