EDITSURFACE — Edit surface
Edits a terrain model: edges, points, triangles and constraints.
- Command:
EDITSURFACE· Global name:_EDITSURFACE· Alias:EDS - Ribbon: Topography › Terrain
Edits a digital terrain model created with SURFACE: swap edges, add or delete points, delete triangles and add breaklines, boundaries or holes. After each change the surface is rebuilt and stored in the same mesh.
Usage
- Enter EDITSURFACE (EDITARMDT) or click Edit surface.
Select surface:
- Select the surface.
Option [Swap edge/Add point/Delete point/Erase triangle/Breakline/bOundary/Hole/Length/eXit] <eXit>:
- Choose what to do. After each change you return to the options (Enter, eXit): - Swap edge: pick a point next to the edge; it becomes the other diagonal of its two triangles. - Add point: pick the point and its elevation (or type x,y,z); the default is the interpolated elevation. - Delete point: the vertex nearest to the point given. - Erase triangle (E or T): deletes the triangle that contains the point (leaving a hole). - Breakline, bOundary, Hole: select polylines, as in SURFACE. - Length: the maximum edge length on the border.
Notes
- The surface is rebuilt from its data (points and constraints): the constrained Delaunay triangulation is unique, so the result is the same as retriangulating only the area touched.
- A swapped edge is stored as a forced edge: it is kept in later edits and can be swapped back. Breakline, boundary and hole edges cannot be swapped.
- Deleted triangles are remembered by one of their points and stay deleted after other edits.
- A polyface mesh not created with SURFACE takes its vertices as points and its border as boundary and holes (no boundary if the border is convex); editing it triangulates it again by Delaunay.
- UNDO undoes it in one step.
