UNION — Union
Merges several solids into one.
- Command:
UNION· Global name:_UNION· Alias:UNI - Ribbon: Home › Modify
Merges several 3D solids into one (boolean union), like AutoCAD's UNION. Between polyhedra it is computed by an in-house BSP modeler (pure Rust), exact even with coplanar faces; the result is stored as an ACIS 3DSOLID.
Usage
- Type UNION or click it in the ribbon.
- Select two or more solids and press Enter.
Select the solids and press Enter:
The selected solids are replaced by the union solid. The result keeps the properties (layer, color, material…) of the first solid selected.
Notes
- Between polyhedra (planar-faced solids) the result is exact: AutoCAD audits it with no errors and MASSPROP reports the exact volume, also with coplanar faces (walls flush at the top and bottom, solids touching along a face).
- Solids with curved faces (cylinders, spheres…) are not yet supported in booleans; they come in a later phase.
