PROFILEVIEW — Profile view
Draws the longitudinal profile of an alignment over the terrain and, optionally, the design grade.
- Command:
PROFILEVIEW· Global name:_PROFILEVIEW· Alias:PROFILE - Ribbon: Topography › Analysis
Draws the longitudinal profile of an alignment over the terrain surface and, optionally, over a second design surface (grade), with an exaggerated vertical scale, the elevation grid, the stations and the data band.
Usage
- Enter PROFILEVIEW (PERFIL) or click Profile view on the Survey tab, Analysis panel.
Select the alignment (polyline or line):
- Select the alignment: a polyline (arcs are followed in short segments), a line, an arc or a 3D polyline.
Select the terrain surface (TIN):
- Select the terrain surface, a mesh created with SURFACE.
Select the design surface (grade) or [None] <None>:
- Select the design surface or press Enter for the terrain only.
Enter an option [Horizontal/Vertical/Station] or press Enter to draw <H 1:…, V 1:…, station every … m>:
- The Profile view dialog opens with the scales and the station interval. Click OK (or press Enter on the command line to accept the values).
Specify the profile origin (lower-left corner of the grid):
- Specify the origin: the lower-left corner of the grid. The data band goes below it.
Options
- Horizontal (H): horizontal scale denominator, 1:1000 by default. Texts are 2.5 mm high at this scale.
- Vertical (V): vertical scale denominator, 1:100 by default. The vertical is exaggerated H/V times (×10 by default).
- Station (S): station interval, 20 m by default. There is a vertical grid line and a data band column at each station and at the end of the alignment.
What it draws
| Layer | Contents |
|---|---|
PERFIL_CUADRICULA | Frame, elevation lines (about 10 mm on paper) with their labels, station lines and title |
PERFIL_TERRENO | Terrain profile |
PERFIL_RASANTE | Design surface profile |
PERFIL_GUITARRA | Data band: station, existing ground, design grade and difference (grade − ground), and the datum |
Notes
- The profile is exact: each alignment segment is cut with the TIN triangles and the elevation is interpolated inside each one. Where the alignment leaves the surface the profile breaks and the data band shows "-".
- Everything is plain DWG lines, polylines and texts. Each object stores in its extended data (XDATA
LINCE_PERFIL) the alignment, the surfaces and the settings: if the TIN or the alignment changes, PROFILEVIEWUPDATE redraws it. - The difference is positive in fill (grade above the ground) and negative in cut.
