POLAR — POLAR
Polar tracking.
- Command:
POLAR· Global name:_POLAR· Shortcut: F10
Turns polar tracking on and off: while a command asks for a point from another one, when the cursor passes close to a direction that is a multiple of the increment angle, it snaps to it, a dashed alignment path is drawn and a tooltip shows the distance and the angle. It is not typed as a command: use the F10 key or the POLAR button on the status bar.
Usage
- Press F10 or click the POLAR button to turn it on or off.
- Right-click the button to choose the increment angle: 90, 45, 30, 22.5, 18, 15, 10 or 5 degrees.
- With the alignment path in view, click: the point lies on it.
Notes
- Polar tracking and Ortho (ORTHO) exclude each other: turning one on turns the other off.
- The OTRACK button (F11), next to it, turns on object snap tracking: rest the cursor half a second on an object snap to acquire it (green cross) and horizontal and vertical paths come out of it.
- POLAR, at 90°, and object snap tracking are on at startup.
