MATBROWSER — Materials
Assigns a library material to the selected objects or to the current layer.
- Command:
MATBROWSER· Global name:_MATBROWSER· Alias:MAT,RMAT - Ribbon: View › Render
Assigns a library material (or one created with a texture image) to the selected objects or to the current layer, like AutoCAD's materials browser.
Usage
- Enter MATERIALES (or MAT).
Specify the material [?/Create] <…>:
- Enter the material name (
?lists the library; a material already created in the drawing also works). Enter uses Global. Or choose Create to make (or change) a textured material: > Name of the new material (or of an existing one, to change it): > Texture image (path, or Madera/Ladrillo/Baldosa/Césped/Agua) or Enter for none: > Size of one texture repeat, in drawing units <1>:
The image is the path of a PNG, JPEG or BMP, or the name of a built-in texture (Madera = wood, Ladrillo = brick, Baldosa = tile, Césped = grass, Agua = water). The size is what one repeat of the image measures in the drawing (e.g. 2 = the image covers 2 × 2 units). Enter at the image prompt creates a plain material.
- Select the objects; Enter without selecting anything assigns it to the current layer.
Library
- Global, Rojo mate, Metal pulido, Cristal, Plástico azul: basic diffuse, specular, gloss and opacity.
- With a built-in texture: Madera (wood flooring), Ladrillo (brick), Baldosa (tile), Césped (grass) and Agua (water, glossy: it reflects the sky in RENDER). The images are generated the first time in the configuration folder (
%APPDATA%\lince\texturas). Their repeat size is in metres and is converted with the drawing units (INSUNITS; unitless, 1 = 1 m).
Notes
- The material is stored as a MATERIAL object in the ACAD_MATERIAL dictionary, with its named entry, as in AutoCAD (AUDIT 0). The texture goes in the diffuse map (file source, with its path and scale), which AutoCAD also reads.
- If the drawing is opened on another computer and the image path does not exist, an image with the same name is looked up in the textures folder.
- Assigned per object (entity
material_flags/handle) or per layer (the layer'smaterialfield). The diffuse colour tints the face in the shaded styles; the texture shows in Render. - No dialog box in this version: it is used from the command line.
