MASSPROP — Mass Properties
Calculates the mass properties of regions and solids.
- Command:
MASSPROP· Global name:_MASSPROP - Ribbon: Home › Utilities
Calculates the mass properties of the selected regions and 3D solids, with AutoCAD's density of 1, and writes them in the text window (F2).
Usage
- Enter MASSPROP.
Select objects:
- Select regions or solids and press Enter. The report is shown: - regions: Area:, Perimeter:, Bounding box:, Centroid:, Moments of inertia:, Product of inertia:, Radii of gyration: and the principal moments with their directions; - solids: Mass:, Volume:, Bounding box:, Centroid:, Moments of inertia:, Products of inertia:, Radii of gyration: and the principal moments.
- Say whether to save the analysis to a text file (.mpr).
Write analysis to a file? [Yes/No] <N>:
Notes
- Several regions are measured together, as one; holes subtract. Arcs are measured with very fine polygons.
- Solids are measured by their mesh: exact with planar faces, very close with curved ones.
- Moments and products of inertia are about the origin; the principal ones, about the centroid.
