MEASUREGEOM — Measure
Measures distances, radii and areas.
- Command:
MEASUREGEOM· Global name:_MEASUREGEOM· Alias:MEA - Ribbon: Home › Utilities
- Menu: Tools
Brings the most common measurements together in one command: distance between two points, radius of an arc or circle, angle, area, volume and quick measurement of objects. Each option works like the equivalent command and writes the result on the command line.
Usage
- Enter MEASUREGEOM (or MEA) or click its button.
Enter an option [Distance/Radius/ANgle/ARea/Volume/Quick] <Distance>:
- Choose the option. Enter, or specifying a point straight away, starts measuring a distance.
- Follow the prompts of the chosen option. The command ends after the measurement.
Options
- Distance (D): distance, angle and deltas between two points, like DIST.
- Radius (R): select an arc or a circle; shows its radius and diameter.
Select arc or circle:
- ARea (AR): area and perimeter by points or of an object, with the add and subtract modes, like AREA.
- ANgle (AN): select an arc (its angle), a circle (pick two points on it), a line and then another (the angle between them, depending on where you pick them) or Vertex (V, Enter): vertex and two endpoints.
Select arc, circle, line, or [Vertex] <Vertex>:
- Volume (V): base by points (Enter calculates the area) or Object (a solid, or a closed curve that is given a height) and, for a flat base, the height.
Specify first corner point of the base or [Object] <Object>:
- Quick (Q): select objects and their measurements are shown (length and angle of a line, radius and diameter of an arc or circle, area and perimeter of a closed object) until you press Enter; it also switches to the other options.
Select an object or [Distance/Radius/ANgle/ARea/Volume/eXit] <eXit>:
Notes
- Quick does not follow the cursor as in AutoCAD: you click the object. There is no separate QUICKMEASURE command, and AutoCAD 2027 has none either.
- Results are written with the units and precision of the drawing (UNITS).
