FILLET — Fillet
Joins two objects with a tangent arc.
- Command:
FILLET· Global name:_FILLET· Alias:F - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Joins two objects with an arc tangent to both, of the current radius, trimming or extending them to the arc. With radius 0 it brings them to their intersection and forms a sharp corner.
Usage
- Enter FILLET (or F) or click Fillet on the ribbon.
Select first object or [Undo/Polyline/Radius/Trim/Multiple]:
- Select the first object and then the second, each on the part you want to keep.
Select second object or shift-select to apply corner or [Radius]:
- The arc is created and the command ends (with Multiple it keeps asking for pairs until Enter).
Options
- Radius: changes the fillet radius (0 or positive; Enter keeps the current one). Stored in FILLETRAD.
Specify fillet radius <…>:
- Polyline: select a 2D polyline and fillet all its vertices between straight segments (those that do not fit are left).
- Trim: Trim or No trim (variable TRIMMODE). Without trimming only the arc is added.
Enter Trim mode option [Trim/No trim] <…>:
- Multiple: keeps asking for pairs of objects.
- Undo: undoes the last fillet.
Notes
- Works between lines, arcs and circles (also arc with arc and circle with circle). Circles are not trimmed. Between two parallel lines a semicircle with the separation as diameter is formed, whatever the radius.
- If there are several solutions, the one on the side where the objects were picked is used.
- If the radius does not fit, a message is shown. The arc goes on the layer of the first object if both share a layer; otherwise on the current layer.
- It does not use the previous selection. With Shift held when selecting the second object, a sharp corner (radius 0). Two straight segments of the same polyline, adjacent or separated by an arc (which is replaced by the new fillet), are filleted inside it, as in AutoCAD 2027; so is the first or last segment of an open polyline with a line, which becomes part of the polyline. With the Polyline option, arcs tangent to both straight segments they join (earlier fillets) are redone with the current radius.
