DIMREASSOCIATE — Reassociate Dimensions
Associates the selected dimensions to geometry.
- Command:
DIMREASSOCIATE· Global name:_DIMREASSOCIATE· Alias:DRE - Ribbon: Annotate › Dimensions
Associates dimensions with the geometry again: for each selected dimension you specify its definition points once more and the dimension becomes linked to the objects found there. From then on the dimension follows those objects when they are moved, stretched, scaled or edited with grips.
Usage
- Enter DIMREASSOCIATE (or DRE).
- Select the dimensions and press Enter. Anything that is not a dimension is discarded.
Select dimensions to reassociate:
- The points of each dimension are requested one by one. Specify the point with an object snap (endpoint, midpoint, center, quadrant or node) or press Enter to keep the current one.
Specify definition point … or press Enter to skip:
- At the end, the number of dimensions that became associative is reported.
Points requested
| Dimension | Points |
|---|---|
| Linear and aligned | The two extension line origins |
| Arc length | The two endpoints of the arc |
| Three-point angular | The vertex and the two points |
| Radius and diameter | The center |
| Ordinate | The feature point |
Notes
- The dimension is associated only if DIMASSOC is 2.
- The association is recognized because the point coincides with a key point of the object (endpoint, midpoint, center, quadrant, node or polyline vertex). A point at an intersection or a nearest point does not associate it.
- New dimensions are already associated when their points lie on the geometry; this command is for dimensions that were disassociated (moved on their own, their object erased) or for those of older drawings.
- Associations are saved as in AutoCAD (DIMASSOC object), and AutoCAD keeps them.
