COUNT — Count Blocks
Counts the block references in an area.
- Command:
COUNT· Global name:_COUNT - Ribbon: Insert › Block
Counts the block references in an area, with the AutoCAD 2027 COUNT prompts, and writes how many there are of each block.
Usage
- Enter COUNT and choose the area: specify its two corners or an option.
Specify first corner of count area or [Current area/Entire model space/Object/Polygonal] <Current area>:
- Select references of the blocks to count and press Enter, or press Enter to count them all.
Select target objects or [List all blocks] <List all blocks>:
Options
- Current area and Entire model space: the whole model space.
- Object: what is inside a closed object (polyline, circle...).
- Polygonal: what is inside a polygon; specify its points and press Enter.
Notes
- A reference is counted if its insertion point lies inside the area. Dynamic blocks count as their definition, whatever their state.
- Current area counts the whole model space (in AutoCAD, what is visible in the viewport). AutoCAD shows the result in the Count palette (with table and fields); LinceCAD writes it on the command line. It cannot be scripted in the AutoCAD console (it opens the palette): it has a unit test.
