BREAK — Break
Breaks an object between two points.
- Command:
BREAK· Global name:_BREAK· Alias:BR - Ribbon: Home › Modify
- Menu: Modify
- Toolbar: Modify
Breaks an object by removing the piece between two points, or splits it in two at a single point without removing anything.
Usage
- Enter BREAK (or BR) or click Break on the ribbon.
- Click the object. The point you click is the first break point.
Select object:
- Specify the second break point: whatever lies between both points is removed.
Specify second break point or [First point] (@: at the same point):
Options
- First point (F): discards the clicked point and asks for the first break point, for example to give it with an object snap.
Specify first break point:
- @: uses the same point as the first one; the object is split into two objects that touch.
Notes
- Breaks lines, arcs, circles and polylines. The points are projected onto the object, so they do not have to lie exactly on it.
- On a circle the piece from the first point to the second one counterclockwise is removed and an arc remains; a closed polyline becomes open. Closed objects cannot be broken at a single point (@).
- It does not use preselection: the object is picked during the command.
