ARC — Arc
Creates an arc through three points.
- Command:
ARC· Global name:_ARC· Alias:A - Ribbon: Home › Draw
- Menu: Draw
- Toolbar: Draw
Draws a circular arc. By default it passes through three points: start, intermediate and end. With its options it can also be drawn by its center, or by its start, its end and the center or the radius.
Usage
- Enter ARC (or A) or click Arc.
- Specify the start point, or enter Center to begin with the center.
Specify start point of arc or [Center]:
- Specify a second point the arc passes through, or enter Center or End.
Specify second point of arc or [Center/End]:
- Specify the end point.
Specify end point of arc:
Options
- Center (C) at the first prompt: center, start point and end point.
Specify center point of arc: Specify start point of arc:
- Center (C) at the second prompt: after the start point, specify the center and the end point.
- End (E): after the start point, specify the end and then the center or, with the Radius option (R), the radius. A negative radius draws the major arc.
Specify center point of arc or [Angle/Direction/Radius]: Specify radius of arc:
- Angle (A): in start-center and in start-end, the included angle (positive: counterclockwise). chord Length (L): after the center, the length of the chord. Direction (D): in start-end, the tangent direction at the start.
Specify end point of arc or [Angle/chord Length]: Specify tangent direction for the start point of arc:
- Enter at the first prompt: continues the last object (line, arc or open polyline) with a tangent arc; only the end point is asked.
Notes
- With a center, arcs are drawn counterclockwise from the start point; the end point only gives the direction in which the arc ends and does not have to lie on it.
- If the three points are collinear there is no arc and the program says so.
- The AutoCAD methods are available except Ctrl to switch direction.
