XLINE — Construction Line
Creates lines of infinite length in both directions.
- Command:
XLINE· Global name:_XLINE· Alias:XL - Ribbon: Home › Draw
- Menu: Draw
Draws construction lines: infinite straight lines in both directions, useful as construction guides (axes, alignments, projections between views). They do not count for zoom extents.
Usage
- Enter XLINE (or XL) or click the button.
- Specify a point on the line, or choose an option.
Specify a point or [Hor/Ver/Ang/Bisect/Offset]:
- Specify a point it passes through. Each point creates another construction line through the first one; Enter ends.
Specify through point:
Options
- Hor (H) and Ver (V): horizontal or vertical lines through each point you specify.
- Ang (A): lines at a fixed angle, in degrees, through each point.
Enter angle of xline (0) or [Reference]:
- Reference (R), inside Ang: the angle is measured from a line, a polyline (its straight segment nearest to the selected point), a ray or another construction line.
Select a line object: Enter angle of xline <0>:
- Bisect (B): the bisector of an angle, given by its vertex and a point on each side. Each further end point creates another bisector with the same vertex and start.
Specify angle vertex point: Specify angle start point: Specify angle end point:
- Offset (O): parallels to a line, at a distance or through a point (Enter). After each one you can select another line.
Specify offset distance or [Through] <Through>: Specify side to offset:
Notes
- XLINE objects are created, as in AutoCAD. They cannot be trimmed or extended yet.
- For a half-line starting at a point, use RAY.
