SURFACEANALYSIS — Surface analysis
Colors a surface by slope, elevation bands or aspect, with a legend.
- Command:
SURFACEANALYSIS· Global name:_SURFACEANALYSIS· Alias:SLOPEMAP - Ribbon: Topography › Analysis
Colors a surface (TIN) by slope, by elevation bands (hypsometric map) or by aspect in 8 directions, and draws the legend with the area of each class.
Usage
- Enter SURFACEANALYSIS (ANALISISTERRENO) or click Surface analysis on the Survey tab, Analysis panel.
Select the terrain surface (TIN):
- Select the surface (a SURFACE mesh).
Analysis type [Slopes/Elevations/Aspects] <…>:
- The Surface analysis dialog opens: choose the map type, the slope unit and the range limits; the legend updates at once. Click OK. On the command line, the same questions:
Slope unit [Percent/Degrees] <…>: Range limits, separated by spaces <…>: Specify the legend point or press Enter to place it on the right:
- Specify where the legend goes or press Enter to place it to the right of the terrain.
Map types
| Type | Classifies | Default ranges | Layer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slopes | the slope of each triangle, in % or degrees | 3, 6, 12, 25 and 50 % (2, 5, 10, 20 and 30°) | MDT_PENDIENTES |
| Elevations | the elevation: each triangle is split exactly at the limit elevations | 6 round-step bands between the lowest and highest elevation | MDT_ELEVACIONES |
| Aspects | where each triangle faces downhill: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW, and Flat | (fixed) | MDT_ORIENTACIONES |
Notes
- Limits are typed separated by spaces ("3 6 12 25 50"); Automatic restores the defaults. With n limits there are n + 1 classes: "< a", "a – b"… "≥ z".
- Each class is filled with SOLID objects of its color (RGB colors, stored as the nearest ACI in DWG 2000); the legend goes on the same layer as the map, so both can be turned off together.
- The slope ramp goes from green (flat) to red (steep); the hypsometric one from green (low) to brown and white (high).
