REFEDIT — Edit Reference In-Place
Edits a block in place, with the rest of the drawing in view.
- Command:
REFEDIT· Global name:_REFEDIT - Ribbon: Insert › Reference
Edits a block in place, with the rest of the drawing in view, like AutoCAD REFEDIT: its contents go into the drawing, where the selected reference is, and can be changed with any command. REFCLOSE saves them to the block (and every insert of it is redrawn) or discards them.
Usage
- Enter REFEDIT and select a block reference.
Select reference:
- Accept the nesting level (the selected block).
Select nesting level [Ok/Next] <Next>:
- Choose the object selection method (All: the whole block).
Enter object selection method [All/Nested] <All>:
- Choose whether attribute definitions are shown for editing.
Display attribute definitions [Yes/No] <No>:
- Edit: whatever you draw while it lasts also goes into the block. Finish with REFCLOSE.
Notes
- While it lasts, the reference being edited is hidden. Undoing back to before REFEDIT cancels the editing.
- External references (open them with XOPEN), dynamic blocks and only part of the block (Nested) cannot be edited in place yet. The other inserts of the block are not faded.
- Avoid saving the drawing while editing: it would save the copied contents and the hidden reference.
- REFEDIT and -REFEDIT ask the same on the command line (AutoCAD opens the Reference Edit dialog box first).
