PDFIMPORT — Import PDF
Brings a PDF's vector geometry in as drawing entities.
- Command:
PDFIMPORT· Global name:_PDFIMPORT· Alias:IMPORTPDF - Ribbon: Insert › Import
Brings a PDF's vector geometry into the drawing as entities, like AutoCAD's PDFIMPORT. Unlike PDFATTACH, which links the rasterized page as an underlay, this reads the PDF's vector content and rebuilds it with standard entities.
Usage
- Type PDFIMPORT (or IMPORTPDF) or click Import PDF.
- Enter the file path (or press Enter to pick it in the browser).
Enter the path of the PDF file to import:
- If the PDF has several pages, enter which one to import.
- Adjust the options and press Enter to import.
Press Enter to import or change [Vectors/Fills/Text/Images/Geometry/Scale]:
What is imported
- Paths (lines, polylines, curves and rectangles) → lightweight polylines. Bézier curves are approximated with straight segments.
- Fills → a SOLID hatch (Fills option) or, if turned off, just the outline.
- Text → text entities, or polylines if you turn on "Geometry" (text as geometry).
- Embedded raster images → extracted to a folder next to the PDF and linked as images (like IMAGEATTACH).
Options
- Vectors, Fills, Text, Images: turn each class on or off.
- Geometry: brings text in as polylines instead of text entities.
- Scale: import scale factor. At scale 1 the page measures what it does on paper, in drawing units (same as a PDFATTACH underlay at scale 1).
Notes
- The PDF color is copied as true color. All geometry lands on the current layer: the PDF's optional content groups (OCG layers) are not split into drawing layers.
- Non-embedded fonts are substituted with an equivalent; if the text cannot be read, use "Geometry".
- Complex fill patterns and stencil (masked) images are not imported.
