LinceCAD License and maintenance
The LinceCAD license is perpetual: it does not expire and keeps working without paying anything else. It includes one year of maintenance, that is, the right to the new versions released during that year.
What it includes
- During the maintenance year, CHECKFORUPDATES offers every new version.
- When it ends, LinceCAD keeps working in the version you have and in any other version released up to the end of maintenance. Versions released later are no longer offered: the update dialog says which one requires renewing.
- Conformity or security fixes (labelled «fix») are also offered with expired maintenance, during the 2-year warranty from purchase, and can be installed without LinceCAD switching to read-only.
- 30-day trials get every update while they last.
- Licenses bought before maintenance existed get one year from their issue date.
Where to see it
In LICENSE, the Updates until row and the Maintenance section show Updates included until: … or, if it has passed, Maintenance expired on ….
Renewing
- In LICENSE, click Renew maintenance… (it also appears in the update dialog and on the start screen when needed).
- The secure Stripe payment page opens, as for the purchase. It costs €50 a year plus your country's taxes.
- Once the payment is confirmed, maintenance is extended one year from its end date or, if it had already expired, from today. LinceCAD picks up the new date within seconds and you receive a confirmation email.
If you manually install a later version
If you install a version released after the end of your maintenance, LinceCAD detects it at startup, also offline (it compares the release date built into the program with the one in the signed license):
- It switches to read-only and grants the courtesy save: no work is lost.
- The start screen and LICENSE explain it: «This version (released on F) is later than your maintenance (until D). Renew maintenance or reinstall version X».
- CHECKFORUPDATES offers to install the latest entitled version. Once you renew, the full license comes back without reinstalling anything.
