- Command:
FIND· Global name:_FIND· Alias:FND - Ribbon: Annotate › Text
Finds a text in the drawing and replaces it with another. It searches texts, multiline texts, attributes, dimension override texts, multileaders and table cells.
Usage
- Enter FIND (or FND). The Find and Replace dialog box opens.
- Type what you are looking for in Find what:. Below it you see how many times it appears, updated as you type.
- Type the new text in Replace with: and click Replace All. Close finishes without changing anything.
The dialog box
- Match case: when cleared, "wall" also finds "Wall" and "WALL".
- Find whole words only: "wall" does not find "walls" or "drywall".
- If objects were selected when the command started, only they are searched and the dialog box says so.
- Find Next: goes to the next match (after the last one, back to the first), shows the text around it and zooms to the object that has it, unless No zoom to the match is checked.
- Replace: changes only the match shown and moves on to the next one.
Command line
While the dialog box is open you can also type:
Find what: Replace with (Enter: find only):
If you press Enter at the second prompt, the matches are only counted. The typed search uses the boxes of the dialog.
Notes
- Texts with fields are skipped, because their contents come from the field; in tables, formulas are not searched.
- In multiline texts, a word split by a formatting change (one letter in bold, for example) is not found.
- Changes are undone with UNDO.
