DIMBREAK — Dimension Break
Breaks dimension and extension lines where other objects cross them.
- Command:
DIMBREAK· Global name:_DIMBREAK· Alias:DBR - Ribbon: Annotate › Dimensions
Breaks the dimension and extension lines where other objects cross them, so the drawing reads better, or removes the breaks.
Usage
- Enter DIMBREAK (or DBR).
- Select the dimension, or choose Multiple to select several (Enter ends the selection).
Select dimension to add/remove break or [Multiple]:
- Select the object that breaks the dimension (only that one will break it), press Enter (or choose Auto) to break it with everything that crosses it, or choose Remove to remove the breaks.
Select object to break dimension or [Auto/Remove] <Auto>:
- The number of changed dimensions is reported.
Options
- Multiple (M): selects several dimensions at once.
Select dimensions:
- Auto (A): breaks the dimension at every crossing with other objects.
- Remove (R): removes the breaks from the selected dimensions.
Notes
- The breaks are redone every time the dimension is regenerated (when it is moved, stretched or its style changes), with the crossings found at that moment.
- Lines, polylines, arcs, circles and splines break the dimension.
- With an object selected, the dimension only breaks where that object crosses it (remembered even if it moves).
- Manual (M), with a single dimension: specify two points on one of its lines; the part between them is removed.
- The break mark is specific to LinceCAD: AutoCAD shows the dimension broken, but does not recognize it as a dimension break and the break disappears if it edits the dimension.
