DIMANGULAR — Angular
Dimensions the angle between two lines.
- Command:
DIMANGULAR· Global name:_DIMANGULAR· Alias:DAN,DIMANG - Ribbon: Annotate › Dimensions
- Menu: Dimension
Dimensions the angle between two non-parallel lines, or the angle defined by a vertex and two points, with a dimension arc. The text is in degrees, with the angular precision of the dimension style.
Usage
- Enter DIMANGULAR (or DAN) or click Angular on the ribbon.
- Select the first line, or press Enter to specify the angle with three points.
Select first line or <specify vertex>:
- Select the second line. If it is parallel to the first one, a message is shown and another line is requested.
Select second line:
- Move the cursor to choose which angle is dimensioned (depending on the quadrant it is in) and how far from the vertex the arc goes, and specify the point.
Specify dimension arc line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle]:
Three points
With Enter at the first step, the vertex and a point on each side of the angle are requested, then the location of the arc:
Specify angle vertex: Specify first angle endpoint: Specify second angle endpoint:
Notes
- Quadrant (Q), when placing the arc: specify a point of the sector to dimension; the arc can then go anywhere and the measurement is still that of the sector, as in AutoCAD.
- A selected arc is dimensioned directly (the angle between its endpoints from the center); for a circle, the angle goes from the selected point to the second point you specify.
- With two lines, the location accepts Mtext, Text (
<>is the measurement) and Angle (text rotation), as in AutoCAD; the Quadrant option is not available. - The AutoCAD variants that dimension an arc or a circle directly are not available; for the length of an arc use DIMARC.
- The dimension uses the current dimension style (DIMSTYLE); angular precision and zero suppression are on the Primary Units tab of DIMSTYLE.
- The dimension is associated with the lines or points it measures and follows them when they change (DIMASSOC).
