BOUNDARY — Boundary
Creates a polyline or a region from the boundary around a point.
- Command:
BOUNDARY· Global name:_BOUNDARY· Alias:BO,BPOLY - Ribbon: Home › Draw
- Menu: Draw
Creates a closed polyline (or a region) from the boundary around an internal point, using the objects that enclose it. The original objects are not modified.
Usage
- Enter BOUNDARY (or BO) or click Boundary.
- Click inside each closed area. For each one, its outer boundary and the boundary of each island it contains are created.
Specify internal point or [Advanced options]:
- Press Enter to finish; the program reports how many objects it has created.
Options
- Advanced options (A): like AutoCAD -BOUNDARY; Enter goes back to asking for points.
Enter an option [Boundary set/Island detection/Object type]:
- Boundary set (B): New selects the objects that count when looking for the boundary (the rest is ignored); Everything counts everything visible again.
Specify candidate set for boundary [New/Everything] <Everything>:
- Island detection (I): with No, only the outer boundary is created, without the islands.
- Object type (O): chooses what is created, polylines or regions (also directly with O when asked for the point).
Enter type of boundary object [Region/Polyline] <Polyline>:
Notes
- The boundary is found in the same way as in HATCH with an internal point: lines, arcs, circles, polylines, ellipses, splines and blocks count; text and dimensions do not.
- If there is no closed boundary around the point, the program says so and you can try another point.
- The resulting polylines are useful, for example, to measure the area of a room with AREA.
- No dialog box in this version: it is used from the command line, with the options of the AutoCAD dialog box.
