HELIX — Helix
Draws a helix or a flat spiral.
- Command:
HELIX· Global name:_HELIX - Ribbon: Home › Draw
Draws a helix, as in AutoCAD 2027. With height 0 it is a flat spiral; with a height, its projection is seen in plan (the spiral from the base to the top).
Usage
- Enter HELIX or click the button. The program remembers the number of turns and the twist.
Number of turns = … Twist=…
- Specify the center point of the base.
Specify center point of base:
- Specify the base radius (or Diameter). If it is given with a point, the helix starts there.
Specify base radius or [Diameter] <…>:
- Specify the top radius (Enter: the base one).
Specify top radius or [Diameter] <…>:
- Specify the height (0 for a flat spiral) or an option.
Specify helix height or [Axis endpoint/Turns/turn Height/tWist] <…>:
Options
- Axis endpoint: the height and the direction of the axis come from a point (it may have Z).
- Turns: number of turns (up to 500).
Enter number of turns <…>:
- turn Height: distance between turns; it ends the helix with height = turns × distance.
Specify distance between turns <…>:
- tWist: twist direction, clockwise or counterclockwise.
Enter twist direction of helix [CW/CCW] <…>:
Notes
- It is saved as the AutoCAD HELIX entity (with its spline), which AutoCAD opens as a helix.
